Conspiracy to attack Kashmiris, says Omar Abdullah

Seemingly angry with the ruling as well as opposition parties for 'failing Kashmiris', former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah brought out the ghost of two nation theory (of Jinnah) from the closet claiming that an environment is being created wherein those, who never saw the solution of the Kashmir issue through the theory, are being compelled to think about it.

Claiming that Kashmiris are being defamed and targeted under a well-planned conspiracy, he said, "What is our fault? Is it our fault that J&K is only state where majority of the population is Muslim. Is it because of that we are being punished?"

"Whether Dehradun or West Bengal or Rajasthan, we got reports that Kashmiris are being targeted. Our students, who are studying in colleges and universities — who have nothing to do with politics and other issues — are being targeted, threatened and driven out," he said.

Former chief minister regretted that hotels have put up sign boards that Kashmiris will not be given rooms. "A governor of state gave an open call to country to boycott Kashmiris: Nobody should buy anything from them, nobody should go to Amarnath and no tourists should go to Kashmir. We thought it will be condemned, that too at highest level. We were hoping that the Prime Minister would say that what the governor said was wrong. If he is busy, at least Home Minister would have said that the people who call for economic boycott will be sternly dealt with. But unfortunately we only got silence", he said.

Omar said when a terror attack was carried out in Chattisgarh where more brave CRPF jawans were killed then Pulwama, nobody asked for economic boycott and no governor asked tourists not to go to Kashmir.

Omar said in fact both ruling and opposition parties failed Kashmiris. "We hoped to hear two words of sympathy and moral support from Congress. Today when they held a press conference and talked about RDX, highway and other things, at least they should have talked about targeting Kashmiris. We regret that even they did not raise their voice properly. Tomorrow when there are elections, this party will seek votes from same Kashmiris", he said.
