A 1988-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Manoj Yadava on Thursday took over as the Haryana Director General of Police (DGP).
IPS officer K.P. Singh was officiating as the DGP since February 1 following retirement of B.S. Sandhu on January 31.
Yadava said maintaining law and order, effective prevention and detection of crime, better investigation, providing safe and secure environment to women and weaker sections of the society will be his top priorities.
Stating that the general elections are round the corner, Yadava said he would ensure all necessary arrangements to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections in the state. Haryana goes to Assembly elections in October this year.
Yadava was on central deputation for the last few years at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
