Wildfire breaks out at Mookkunnimala

Fire and Rescue Services personnel were kept on tenterhooks after a suspected wild fire broke out at Mookkunnimala, near Nemom.

The fire, which spread to around six acres at Mottamoodu, lasted three hours after it was reported around 4.15 p.m., officials said. Three units were deployed from the Chengalchoola, Neyyattinkara, and Kattakkada fire stations. The firefighters and the Naruvammoodu police immediately shifted explosives stored in a quarry in the region. Officials are yet to detect the cause of the fire.
