Skoda Karoq Soon To Come Into India

If media reports are to be believed then Skoda India is readying itself for their first launch of this year – a 5-seater premium SUV. Yes, the Skoda Karoq is next on the cards for the Czech automaker who last year took over the reins of Volkswagen Group in India. Skoda Karoq is expected to be launched sometime in the second quarter of 2019.

According to a specific report by Team-BHP, pre-testing of this premium SUV has already begun and production in terms of assembly as this SUV will be imported as CKD (completely knocked down units) is well underway at the company’s Aurangabad facility. Price for Skoda Karoq is likely to be in the range of Rs 24 – 30 lakh (ex-showroom).

Built on Volkswagen’s versatile MQB platform, Skoda Karoq measures 4,382mm in length while its width stands at 1,814 mm with a height of 1,605mm. Having a ground clearance of 200mm, Karoq’s wheelbase is 2,638mm.

Talking about its exterior design, the premium SUV has borrowed design cues from Skoda Kodiaq, its elder sibling. Upfront the Karoq features Skoda’s trademarked grille which along with sweptback headlights give this particular SUV an aggressive look. It is further substantiated with the presence of trapezoidal fog lamps and a wide air dam. The rear on the other hand features LED tail lamps and big bumper that incorporates reflector inserts.

Powertrains expected to come in this SUV will be both petrol and diesel mills. The former should be a 1.5-litre turbocharged while the latter will be tried and tested 2.0-litre. What we are also to believe is that the company could offer different 1.6-litre diesel engine that would be BSVI complaint and mated to a DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.
