Film producer Mushir Alam buried in city

Kanpur: Mortal remains of famous Bollywood film producer - Mushir Alam were buried at a graveyard in Jajmau in Chakeri area of the city on Thursday evening.
Close family friends and relatives of Alam bid him a tearful adieu. A large number of people had gathered to take part in cremation of the renowned film producer. Kanpur, being Mushir’s hometown, was opted for his last rites.
Mushir (80) breathed his last on Wednesday at Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai after prolonged illness. He had produced some famous films along with his friend Riyaaz including Amitabh Bachchan-Dilip Kumar starrer ‘Shakti’ and Anil Kapoor starrer ‘Virasat’. Other movies made under his production banner were Rajesh Khanna starrer ‘Safar’ and Dilip Kumar starrer ‘Bairaag’.
“Mushir Alam was admitted at Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital after complaints uneasiness. Earlier he underwent a transplant of valve in his chest,” sources said.
Mushir Alam won the Filmfare in 1983 for ‘Shakti’ in the best film category. Apart from ‘Shakti’ and ‘Virasat’, Mushir Alam’s banner was known for producing big budget multi-starrers like ‘Akela’ starring Amitabh Bachchan, ‘Commando’ with Mithun Chakraborty, ‘Rajput’ with Rajesh Khanna, Dharmendra and Vinod Khanna.
