MC sceptical over extension demands, calls it of no use

Ludhiana: With regularization policy for illegal colonies coming to an end, developers are demanding extension for a few more days. The decision will be taken after the assembly session will get over. Officials however believe that the chances of developers applying for regularisation even after the extension are very slim.

The policy to regularise the illegal colonies was notified on October 18, 2018, and it ended on February 17. Against a total of 1,431 illegal colonies in district falling under Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (Glada), only 230 applications were received from the developers. The MC also has received around 110 applications from developers.

Meanwhile, the general secretary of Punjab colonisers and property dealers association Gurvinder Lamba said they had conducted meetings with chief secretary Suresh Kumar and other officials over this issue and they have been assured that time limit in the policy will be extended. He said there was a confusion earlier on some points, which have now been clarified, following which developers are now looking forward to apply.

However, on the other hand, Glada chief the administrator PS Gill said they have no information about extension in policy time. He said enough time was given to developers for applying and they conducted several meetings as well, but they did not come forward then.
