Chief Electoral Officer Gopal Krishna Dwivedi said on Wednesday that special camps would be organised at all the polling stations in the State as per the directions of the Election Commission of India on February 23 and 24 to facilitate enrolment of eligible voters whose names have gone missing from the electoral rolls and to enable people to check whether they figure in the voters’ list.
In a press release, Mr. Dwivedi stated that the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) would have the voters’ lists and Forms 6 (application for inclusion as voter), Form 7 (application for objecting inclusion or seeking deletion of name in the electoral rolls), Form 8 (application for corrections) and Form 8 A (application for transposition of entries in case of shifting from one place of residence to another within the same constituency).
Political parties could depute their agents, and arrangements were made to read out the names for the convenience of the illiterate.
Mr. Dwivedi said applications received at the camps would be disposed of before March 7, by which time the BLOs would verify them. District election officers would monitor the exercise.
