Fasting PAAS members refuse treatment at hospital

Surat: Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) convener Dharmik Malaviya and another member Nikunj Kakadiya, who are on fast for nine days, were forcibly taken to hospital by the police on Thursday after their health was found deteriorating.
However, police had a tough time convincing them as the duo refused to take treatment.
The duo is fasting in Nana Varachha area to demand release of Alpesh Kathiriya and justice for those who died in the violence that broke out during the quota agitation in 2015.
At around 2.30am, a team of police went to the agitation spot and tried to convince Malaviya and Kakadiya to take treatment. Earlier, both had refused to take treatment when a team from New Civil Hospital (NCH) visited them.
On Wednesday, district collector Dhaval Patel and deputy commissioner of police, zone I, R P Barot also met bot the activists.
The police team first took them to Surat Institute of Medical Education and Research (SMIMER) and later to NCH where they refused to take treatment. Later they were taken to two private hospitals. However, they refused to budge despite hectic discussions. Ultimately, they returned to their venue of fasting without taking treatment.
On Thursday, Patidar community leaders from the city come out in support the activists. Surat PAAS leaders said that Hardik Patel is likely to visit them on Friday.
