THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM’s top leadership was aware of the plan to murder the two Youth Congress workers, alleged opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala on Wednesday. The statement made by the wife and daughter of Peethambaran, the former CPM leader who has been arrested in connection with the murders, exposed the role of the party leadership, he said.
“Peethambaran’s wife and daughter have made it clear that the party has disowned him since Lok Sabha polls are approaching. They have said that Peethambaran would not do anything without the knowledge of the party leadership,” said the opposition leader.
Peethambaran did not hold any personal grudge against the two Youth Congress workers. This makes us believe that the motive behind the murders was political vendetta, alleged Chennithala. “Only if CBI probes the case, the whole conspiracy will be unearthed and real culprits will be booked”, he said.
Peethambaran’s mother has said that he had fractured his hand in a fall. So, if police have framed him in the case, it is to help him escape from the clutches of law as it can be easily proved that he cannot stab anyone with a fractured hand. It is a well-crafted script by CPM leaders and police, Chennithala added.
The opposition leader said the family of Peethambaran knows too much, and their life is under threat now. Since they have spoken against the party they will be the next target. Police will end the investigation with the arrest of Peethambaran.
