The McLaren Of Eyewear Is Coming This Spring Courtesy Of L’Amy

McLaren, together with leading eyewear manufacturer L’Amy Group, has launched the new Vision Collection that will be available with a range of lens options in spring.

The collection will include both sunglasses and prescription spectacles, featuring a unique design created by L’Amy in partnership with design teams from McLaren Automotive and McLaren Racing.

In order to emulate McLaren cars’ use of advanced materials, the frames are made from 3D-printed titanium, while rotary hinges offer for comfort and a 3D facial scan allows the frames to suit the precise dimensions of the wearer’s face.

Meanwhile, the lenses are fixed within the frames at just two contact points, offering a “floating” structure that ensures the glasses are both lightweight as well as very strong. Also, buyers can spec the glasses with optional Leica sun lenses.

The McLaren Ultimate Vision design is only the first product of a global licensing agreement between the British automaker and L’Amy Group that aims to extend McLaren’s DNA into eyewear for the very first time. L’Amy has been manufacturing glasses since 1810, exclusively in France. Today, it specializes in producing high-end eyewear under license for multiple global brands.

The launch of the McLaren Vision eyewear will take place at the MIDO Show in Milan, on 23-25 February. Judging from the teaser image, the dark theme with the company’s signature papaya orange detailing should complement the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition cellphone nicely.
