No major attack on students: Malik

Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik said on Wednesday that there were attempts to communalise the situation since the Pulwama terror attack, and denied any serious attack on any Kashmiri student in the past few days.

Mr. Malik told The Hindu that arrangements were made to shift stranded students from Jammu to Srinagar, and Home Minister Rajnath Singh had asked the Chief Ministers of all the States to ensure their safety and security.

In the past four months, he said, no one from the State had joined any terror group. Only 20-25 Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists remained active in the Valley, and all commanders had been eliminated.

“All this noise is created by some vested interests to vitiate the atmosphere. I didn’t get any call from any Kashmiri student seeking help. Some leaders in Kashmir are asking the students to make such calls. Except from Dehradun, no student has returned from anywhere else,” Mr. Malik said.
