PANAJI: In the run up to the forthcoming general elections to the Parliament, All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi is likely to visit Goa in the first week of March to address the booth level workers of the party.

A senior leader of the party said that the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee is gearing up to host Gandhi in Goa and the party has already held meetings with the party office bearers. “Meeting of South Goa district committee has already taken place and soon a meeting of the North district committee will be held. Currently the party is preparing a list of the booth level workers, who will be attending the meeting,” he said.

The senior leader said that during his visit, the Congress president will hold a series of meetings with Congress Legislature Party, senior leaders, leaders of the frontal organisations and party workers.

When contacted, GPCC president Girish Chodankar said: “Yes, our national party president is expected to come down to Goa on a short official visit.” He, however, refused to reveal more details about Gandhi’s visit.
