Mysuru: Police officers shunted ahead of LS polls

MYSURU: Several police officers including four IPS officers in Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts have been transferred ahead of Lok Sabha elections.

Southern police range head IGP KV Sharath Chandra, a 1997-batch IPS officer, has been relocated to Bengaluru Central Range as its chief. Sharath Chandra had assumed charge as southern range police chief a few months ago. He was appreciated for cracking infamous Sulwadi temple food poisoning case that claimed 17 lives.


Another senior IPS officer Vipul Kumar has been posted as southern rage police chief. Vipul will also continue to hold charge of the director of Karnataka Police Academy.


Chamarjanagar SP Dharmender Kumar Meena has been shifted to the intelligence wing as DCP. Meena had played a key role in uncovering Sulwadi temple poisoning case along with IGP KV Sharath Chandra. He has been replaced by HD Ananda Kumar.


DCP (law and order) N Vishnuvardhana has been transferred to the Bengaluru intelligence wing.


Meanwhile, the department has also transferred officers in the rank of deputy superintendent of police, inspectors and sub-inspectors in Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Mandya, and Kodagu.
