The Divisional Food Analysis Laboratory, located in the office of Chief Food Analyst at Tilaknagar, will soon go hi-tech with modern apparatus for all kinds of tests.

The lab is also applying for certification from National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), said Chidambara, officer in-charge of FSSAI, Mysuru. Once it is fully functional, it will be on a par with any lab of major food research institutions, he said. Thanks to FSSAI, the divisional food labs under the Department of Health and Family Welfare were getting modernised to enforce prescribed safety norms. “The effort being made for upgrading the lab has come under praise from the FSSAI. The lab is equipped for chemical and microbiological analysis,” he replied.

Food samples from Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Chamarajnagar, Mangaluru, Udupi, Kodagu and Chikkamagaluru will be sent to the Mysuru lab for analysis.
