Discussions on empowerment and leadership took precedence at WE Con 2019, a business conference organised by Women Entrepreneurs (WE) of the Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, here on Wednesday.

The conference themed ‘WE navigate to balance’ discussed issues, including women in business through the ages. Other topis revolved around bettering business and success routes. The event also saw lively debates about balance in business. Awards were distributed at the end of the programme.

Rajkumari Jeevagan, chairperson of WE, spoke about thumb rules for business. She said that a businesswoman must have a deep understanding of herself in order to uplift others. The acute awareness of each personality would help in growth, she said. “Only intangible assets like our personality stand the test of time. We must develop endurance and stability,” she said and added that work often grew on entrepreneurs and consumed them, providing focus and direction. She concluded her speech by saying that the gaps between aspiration and reality as well as tradition and technology must be bridged.

Thamizhachi Thangapandian, writer, said that she was overwhelmed at being referred to as a ‘social entrepreneur.’

S. Rethinavelu, senior President of TN Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and V. Neethi Mohan, chairman, Young Entrepreneur School, encouraged the women by saying that men had a lot to learn from their style of functioning.
