Vadodara: Four persons were arrested by the prevention of crime branch (PCB) for stealing LPG from cylinders and selling it off in black market. The PCB sleuths had received information that LPG is being stolen from a domestic gas agency near Ajabdi Mill following which they raided the spot.
The police said that the accused including the driver who worked with the Dhruvas Gas Agency used to steal gas from the bottles. “They used to siphon off gas from the full bottles with a pipe. The gas was then transferred to empty bottles that were then sold off to customers illegally,” the police said.
The police said that the accused used to steal only little quantity of gas from different LPG bottles so that the customers won’t get suspicious. The accused have been identified as Hitesh Vasava, Faizankhan Pathan, Mahesh Devipujak and Pervez Sheikh. The cops seized 116 LPG bottles from the gas agency’s godown along with a weighing scale and mobile phones.
The district administration and gas agencies have been spreading awareness and urging customers to check the weight of LPG bottles and complain if they find anomalies.
