Six finalists were chosen out of 227 teams comprising 554 participants

It was a smooth sail for one of the two teams of The Aditya Birla Public School, Ariyalur, among the six finalists of The Hindu Young World Quiz at the MD Hall on BHEL complex on Wednesday.

The final score of 139 points registered by the winning team A. Aadhithya and V. Dhanush Adithya was way ahead in the competition which witnessed enthusiastic participation by all contestants.

The contestants in the final round vied with one another in answering the questions thrown by the quiz master V.V. Ramanan.

Ultimately, the best performers prevailed. The six finalists -- two from The Aditya Birla Public School, Ariyalur, Montfort School, Kattur, Sri Akilandeswari Vidyalaya, Kamakoti Vidyalaya, and Sri Vageesha Vidhyashram Senior Secondary School -- were chosen out of 227 teams comprising 554 participants.

Not all teams were lucky in ensuring quantum jump in the score by way of identifying tennis legend Roger Federer hidden in the numbered grid. What did not go unnoticed was the vibrancy with which students on the side of the audience answered some of the questions which even the finalists could not.

The first runners up were M.Rahul Sanjeev and S. Rahul Akshith representing Kamakoti Vidyalaya, with a score of 84 points. The second runners-up were G. Shri Ashvika and S. Subhiksha of Sri Vageesha Vidhyashram School with a score of 54 points.

Powered by Eveready Industries Pvt. Ltd., the event held the attention of students all along with a variety of questions that had much to do with constant reading of newspapers.

Handing over the prizes to the winners, the Commissioner of City Corporation N. Ravichandran said participating and performing in such competitions will stand the students in good stead to excel in competitive examinations in future.

K. Jagadeesh, Area Sales Manager, Eveready; and K. Paramanatham, Manager - Marketing, Arrow Publications (knowledge partner) joined the chief guest in honouring the prize-winners.
