Share market update: FMCG shares trade higher; Emami jumps over 3%

The Nifty FMCG index was trading 0.30 per cent up at 29,140.65 around 11:10 am.

NEW DELHI: Most FMCG shares were trading higher in Thursday's afternoon session.

Shares of Emami (up 3.76 per cent), Jubilant Foodworks (up 2.34 per cent), Britannia Industries (up 2.16 per cent) and Tata Global Beverages (up 2.09 per cent) were the top gainers in the index.

Marico (up 1.04 per cent), GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (up 0.96 per cent), United Breweries (up 0.88 per cent) and Hindustan Unilever (up 0.86 per cent) too were trading in the green.

The Nifty FMCG index was trading 0.30 per cent up at 29,140.65 around 11:10 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 9.20 points at 10,744.65 while the BSE Sensex was up 35.81 points at 35,792.07.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 were trading in the green, while 23 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SAIL, ICICI Bank, Vedanta, Ashok Leyland, Tech Mahindra, SBI, ONGC, Bank of Baroda, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Hindalco Industries, Indiabulls Housing Finance and JSW Steel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
