Outer Ring Road project brought out of closet again

The VUDA board cleared annual budget for 2019-20 on ThursdayVadodara: The proposed outer Ring Road circling the city, which is hanging fire for the past 12 years, may soon see the light of the day.
The Vadodara Urban Development Authority (VUDA) has decided to get a detailed project report (DPR) prepared for the project in the ensuing financial year.
The VUDA board cleared the annual budget for the year 2019-20 on Thursday. The board cleared capital expenses worth Rs 314.51crore in the budget including the preparation of the DPR. The budget has pegged the income of the authority at Rs 335.65crore.
The 75-meter outer ring road has been included in the development plan of the authority since 2006. However, no concrete development took place on this front so far. The ring road includes parts of the national highway that passes from the outskirts of the city.
VUDA chairman and Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) commissioner Ajay Bhadoo said that the road will be around 65km long. He added that at places where land was needed for the road, VUDA will try to do so by laying town planning schemes.
The budget has also proposed to declare the intention of the intention of the authority to prepare two town planning (TP) schemes 24-A ad 24-B in the Bhayli, Mahapura, Gokalpura, Sevasi, Khanpur and Ankodiya areas. It also stated that the intention of TP scheme 48 in Koyali and TP scheme 42 in Undera and Ankodiya areas of the city will be declared. The proposed ring road passes through some of these areas.
The budget has also planned a series of road, sewage, drinking water and housing schemes. One of the major works cleared was that of clearing funds of Rs 33.15crore to be paid to the VMC for supply of water from the Sindhrot water supply scheme VMC. The VMC has planned a water project based on Mahi river at Sindhrot.
