The newly established Bengaluru Central University (BCU) recorded an overall pass percentage of 54.5% in the first results of the undergraduate course exams, which were announced on Tuesday.
As many as 29,979 students had appeared for the exams held in December 2018, out of which 16,337 passed, officials said.
The varsity has adopted e-governance and digital initiatives by automating the entire examination procedure to bring in a transparent and efficient examination system. Communication with the stakeholders — colleges, students and teachers, among others — was through the university, college and student portals as well as through mobile applications, officials said.
They added that BCU introduced an online help desk and ‘100%” digital payments’ from the point of admission to result announcement.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, S. Japhet, Vice-Chancellor, BCU, said, “BCU is probably the first university in the entire State to bring about e-governance in terms of examination communication. Being in the IT capital, this university has to be a digital campus from end-to-end.”
Students will be allowed to apply for copies of answer books and revaluation within 15 days of the announcement of the results, and the same will be made available through the student portal. Students need to pay the prescribed fee through netbanking or post office.
Officials said BCU has signed a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) for depositing all its academic awards, marks cards and degree certificates with the National Academic depository (NAD), an online store-house launched by University Grants Commission (UGC), Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
Digitisation will facilitate students to get their marks cards and certificates verified online, BCU officials said.
