U.S. Ambassador to India, Kenneth I. Juster, on Thursday opened a photo exhibition chronicling the U.S. Consulate’s 10 years in Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, in the presence of CEO of GMR Hyderabad International Airport S.G.K. Kishore and U.S. Consul-General Katherine Hadda.
Thirty photographs for the exhibition were curated by the Consulate in Hyderabad after evaluating thousands of photos beginning from U.S. President George W. Bush’s visit to Hyderabad in 2006 to the latest initiatives like the 2017 Global Entrepreneurship Summit. The exhibits would be on display at the airport for two weeks and would later travel to other locations across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha.
“As an avid photographer, I know that images are an especially compelling way to tell a story. These photos tell the story of American diplomats working with Indian colleagues and communities to address issues of concern to our two countries,” said Ambassador Juster, according to a press release.
“Our CSR arm – GMR Varalakshmi Foundation – has been closely working with the Consulate helping several underprivileged children to study in the U.S. through Community College Initiative Programme of the State Department. Two of our Foundation colleagues were also selected for the International Visitor Leadership Programme, a prestigious professional exchange programme,” Mr. Kishore said.
“We celebrate a decade of impactful work in this region of India,” said Ms. Katherine Hadda, adding that “these photos demonstrate the partnerships we have built across TS, A.P. and Odisha, which are of immense value to both our countries”.
