Punjab: Minor Kashmiri boy detained for saying ‘India will be destroyed’

LUDHIANA: High drama was witnessed at Nimm Wala Chowk of old city on Thursday night when a minor Kashmiri resident allegedly commented that ‘India will be destroyed’. Following the incident, the activists of city based Sri Maha Dev Sena reached the spot and called the police.

The 17-year-old boy hails from Kupwara, J&K and came to city in November to help his uncle who runs a dhaba at Nimm wala chowk in old city.

President of Shri Maha Dev Sena, Sushil Kapoor Lucky said, "as soon as I came about the incident I reached at that Dhaba where the boy accepted that he has spoken against country and also apologized. However I called PCR and also have lodged a complaint with division no 3 Police against him."


The police detained the minor boy and he is being questioned.


Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP-1) Gurpreet Singh Sikand said that the Dhaba where boy works with his uncle is on first floor while on ground floor there is a Paan vend. On Thursday late evening the Kashmiri boy was standing at the vend when the vendor condemned the Pulwama attack. Vendor also asked him to go back to Kashmir as the situation is tensed after attack across the country. In reply the boy commented that India will be destroyed.


“After some verbal argument between Kapoor and minor boy, the police reached on spot and took the boy to police station where he is being questioned. Besides, the police have received a formal complaint however action will be taken after taking legal opinion on the matter.”


The minor boy is a school dropout who has been working in the city with his maternal uncle from past two years.
