Cape Town - The EFC have signed a new deal with the South African Broadcasting Association (SABC).
The promotion also recently went into partnership with pay TV channel SuperSport.
The EFC released a statement on Wednesday, part of which reads: ‘SABC Sport, South Africa’s sport broadcasting powerhouse, announced a broadcast partnership with EFC, the leading mixed martial arts (MMA) organisation on the African continent.
‘EFC has had continued growth since its inception, from a local MMA organisation into one of the world leaders, reaching over 600 million homes in 120 countries around the globe weekly. SABC Sport has partnered with EFC to continue to bring the sport even closer to South African fans.
‘The partnership will see 1 hour of dedicated EFC programming every week on SABC 3, plus 10 live EFC events broadcast per year. Starting on Saturday, March 2, 2019, SABC 3 will broadcast 1 hour of exciting EFC programming every Saturday evening from 20:00 - 21:00. The best bouts from EFC will be featured along with premium programming building up to each new live EFC event. On the evening of every live EFC event, SABC 3 will broadcast the full 3-hour event delayed live from 21:30 - 00:30, featuring the 5 main-card bouts.’
EFC president Cairo Howarth added: “This is awesome for MMA and EFC fans across South Africa. Saturday nights now have the best TV viewing thanks to SABC Sport. This is huge value for EFC, its partners and the EFC athletes, who will all be showcased to millions of SABC 3 viewers every Saturday night.”
Highlights of broadcast partnership:
EFC will be broadcast on SABC 3 in 2019 from March, with the first broadcast on Saturday, March 2.
Every Saturday from 20:00 - 21:00.
All 10 live EFC events will be broadcast on Saturday from 21:30 - 00:30
TF2 debuts on April 27, 2019 with the live finale taking place on June 29, 2019 event at Carnival City.
