USCG Lt. dreamed of killing 'every last person'

A Coast Guard lieutenant and self-proclaimed white nationalist who said he dreamed of a way to quote "kill almost every last person on earth" has been arrested in Maryland on weapons and drugs charges.

Court documents say the man, Christopher Paul Hasson, was obsessed with neo-Nazi views and had amassed a cache of weapons to quote "murder innocent civilians on a scale rarely seen in this country." Media reports said Hasson, who was detained on Friday, had been stockpiling weapons since 2017, and had drawn up a list of potential targets including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and MSNBC television host Joe Scarborough..

The court filings, which referred to Hasson as a ''domestic terrorist," did not identify any date for a planned attack.

Cuz of the way he would stare at us and stare at our parents and stuff like that." Prosecutors said agents found 15 firearms and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition in Hasson's residence.

Hasson was assigned to the Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington.

Prosecutors said he had routinely studied a manifesto by Norwegian far-right extremist Anders Breivik, who in 2011 killed eight people with a car bomb in Oslo and shot dead 69 more at a youth camp.

Hasson is expected to appear at a detention hearing in federal court on Thursday.
