Two women held with 106kg beef from GSRTC buses in Gondal

RAJKOT: Gondal police seized 106kg beef from two women passengers travelling in two separate state transport buses on Wednesday. The women were arrested for transporting beef.
The police seized nearly six parcels in which beef kept inside plastic bags was concealed by wrapping it using cloth.
Jarina Karim Bavanka (50),who was travelling in Dhoraji-Rajkot bus of Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) and Bibiben Harun Khorani (65), who was aboard the Upleta-Rajkot bus were arrested under Section 6(b) of the Animal Protection Act, 2017, Section 8(b) of the Cattle Trespass Act and IPC Sections 429, 295 and 114.
Police said that both women were residents of Morbi Road in Rajkot and were returning to the city. Investigation officer Kripalsinh Jadeja said, “According to the laboratory report, it has been confirmed that the meat found on the women was beef. Both have been arrested.”
Police had acted on the information provided by cow vigilant Gordhan Paradva. According to the women, they had brought the meat from Navagadh village near Jetpur. Police also began search operation in Jetpur late evening on Wednesday.
