“Samsung Galaxy Watch Active, Galaxy Buds, and Galaxy Fit and Fit e are affordable accessories that will accompany the premium Galaxy S10 series smartphones”

While the Galaxy S10 series and Galaxy Fold foldable phone hogged all the limelight at today’s Unpacked event, Samsung also launched a bunch of accessories to accompany its new phones. The new accessories by the brand include the Galaxy Watch Active smartwatch, Galaxy Buds earbuds, and Galaxy Fit and Fit e fitness trackers.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active

To start off, the Galaxy Watch Active is a smartwatch with a 1.1-inch AMOLED (360 x 360 pixels) circular always-on display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. While it does not have the rotating bezel that has been a part of Samsung smartwatches in the past, it does have two buttons on the right side for controls. It is powered by the Tizen 4.0 software and works with both Android and iOS devices and uses Bluetooth 4.2 for pairing.

The new Galaxy Watch Active can monitor users’ blood pressure, which can be tracked using the My BP Lab app. It also has a heart rate monitor, stress tracker, and the capability to auto-detect when you run, bike, row. Users can manually engage in more than 39 activities, set daily goals, and monitor their progress. It can be controlled using Bixby voice commands and works with third-party apps such as Under Armour, Spotify, Strava etc.

It comes with a 20mm watch strap and users can change the strap easily to personalise the watch. It is powered by a 1.15GHz dual-core Exynos 9110 SoC, with 768MB RAM and 4GB storage. Galaxy Watch Active has a 5ATM rating to survive in water up to 50 metres for up to 30 minutes as well as IP68 rating, along with military-grade MIL-STD-810G certification for durability. Lastly, it supports WPC-based wireless charging, NFC, A-GPS, GLONASS, and Wi-Fi b/g/n. It will come in Silver, Black, Sea Green, and Rose Gold colours and reportedly go on sale on March 8th at a price of $199.99 (about Rs 14,400) in the US; pre-orders are said to begin starting today in the country.

Samsung Galaxy Buds

Priced at $129.99 (roughly Rs 9,200), Samsung Galaxy Buds are wireless earbuds that are tuned by AKG. The Enhanced Ambient Sound feature allows users to “remain aware of their environment” even while taking a phone call or listening to music. Due to the Adaptive Dual Microphone, users’ voice is clearly delivered via the inner and outer mics in each earbud. On Samsung Galaxy devices, they can fire up Bixby too.

The new Samsung Galaxy Buds have a 58mAh battery in each earbud, with the company claiming up to six hours of audio streaming on Bluetooth (v5.0). The charging case has another 252mAh, which are said to give seven hours of battery life to the earbuds. Samsung says a 15-minute charge will give the earbuds battery life of 1.7 hours. Apart from this, the pair can be charged using Samsung Galaxy S10’s reverse wireless charging function. They will be available to buy in Black, White, and Yellow colour options.

Samsung Galaxy Fit and Fit e

Samsung Galaxy Fit and Fit e – Samsung claims – are everyday fitness wearable for everyone. The devices look similar to most other fitness bands out there. They offer “intuitive” tracking for your walk, run, bike, row, hop, and other activities. Users of Galaxy Fit and Fit e can also manually select from more than 90 different activities in the Samsung Health app on your smartphone. The wearables also boast of “enhanced” sleep analysis and smart stress management that allows you to monitor your wellbeing at any time of the day.

Galaxy Fit packs a 0.95-inch colour AMOLED display with 120 x 240-pixel resolution, while Galaxy Fit e sports 0.74-inch PMOLED screen with 64 x 128-pixel resolution. Both the devices come preloaded with Realtime OS and are compatible with smartphones running Android 5.0 or higher and iOS 9.0 or above. The wearables also offer MIL-STD 810G durability and water resistant of up to 50 meters (5ATM rating).

On the performance and battery front, the Galaxy Fit rocks MCU Cortex M33F 96MHz + MO 16MHz and 120mAh battery with NFC wireless charging respectively. The Fit e, on the other hand, ships with MCU Cortex MO 96MHz and 70mAh battery that supports Pogo charging. Other features include BLE connectivity and sensors such as HRM, Accelerometer, and Gyroscope (only on Galaxy Fit).

As for the price, we only that the Galaxy Fit will retail at $99 (~Rs 7,000), it’ll not be available until this spring. There are no details of Galaxy Fit e at the moment.
