NABARD to work with agri university

A delegation of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has suggested Prof. Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) to take up research programmes for making agriculture profitable.

Led by Chief General Manager Vijay Kumar and District Development Managers (DDMs), the delegation visited PJTSAU on Tuesday and interacted with university officials led by Vice-Chancellor V. Praveen Rao. The NABARD delegation also requested the university to include their activities and programmes in its curriculum of courses.

The Vice-Chancellor readily accepted the proposal and stated that it would be included in the undergraduate courses initially and guest lectures would be arranged with NABARD officials. They have decided to ink a memorandum of understanding for joint research programmes.

Explaining activities of NABARD, Mr. Vijay Kumar said they were working in villages for socio-economic development of farmers and wanted PJTSAU research collaboration in the areas of climate proofing in view of the climate change challenges, models of cropping patterns, enhancement of productivity, integrated farming and area development in watershed programmes.

Prof. Praveen Rao stated that expansion of crop colonies would be taken up in four horticultural crops and four agricultural crops from next June.
