Congress slams PM for ‘hug diplomacy’
TNN | Feb 21, 2019, 05:11 ISTNEW DELHI: Congress on Wednesday broke its vow of silence on Pulwama and launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his outreach to Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Congress dared Modi to “show courage” to ask Saudia Arabia to “withdraw or amend their joint statement with Pakistan, which virtually rejects India’s demand for declaring Maulana Masood Azhar as an international terrorist.” Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said.
“These are questions that PM must answer,” he added.
The gloves, however, came off on Wednesday after PM Modi, in a break from protocol, received the Saudi crown prince upon his arrival at the Delhi airport on Wednesday.
“National interest versus Modi Ji’s hug diplomacy. Breaking protocol, Modi Ji grants grand welcome to those who have just gifted 20 Billion American Dollars to Pakistan by way of investment as also praised Pak’s anti terror efforts. Is it your way of remembering the martyrdom of Pulwama martyrs? Is asking a terrorist to be designated as a terrorist, politicisation of UN listings?,” Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said.
