Teachers’ body for revised pay from January 2016

PATNA: The Pataliputra University Teachers’ Association (P. PUTA) on Wednesday welcomed the move of the state government to implement the 7th revised pay scales for the state university teaching and non-teaching staff from January 2016 . It, however, voiced concern over the state government’s decision to give financial benefits to the state varsity employees from April 2017 and described it as “unfair and gross injustice”.

Association president professor A K Singh Thakur said the state government had earlier called a meeting with the representatives of different state universities to chalk out a plan for implementation of the pay scales as per recommendations of the UGC.

“The government had then assured the representatives that it would implement it in toto. The state government should give financial benefits to teaching and non-teaching staff from January 2016 instead of the approved April 2017,” Thakur said.

The association also asked the state to give financial benefits of the revised pay scales to the retired teachers and non-teaching staff of the universities as well from January 2016.

The P.PUTA members submitted a memorandum to chief minister Nitish Kumar in his office urging him to implement the pay scales with financial benefits from January 2016 to all, including retired teachers and pensioners of the state varsities.
