Women intruder from Pakistan shot at border in Gurdaspur district

GURDASPUR: Border Security Force (BSF) jawan's on Wednesday early morning shot at a Pakistani women intruder at international border with Pakistan in Gurdaspur district after she ignored their warning against entering the Indian territory.
BSF had recovered a 3.5 meter rope, a camouflage pant, a broken mobile phone without SIM card from the Pak female intruder who was wearing suit salwar.
According to BSF sources, the women in her mid thirties was trying to enter India from BSF’s Basantar border out post.
A week after Pulwama suicide attack in J&K , an infiltration attempt of Pak women from Punjab’s international border have set the alarm bells ringing in security circles especially when she was carrying a rope and a camouflage pant.
While confirming that BSF jawan’s shot at an intruder on Wednesday morning , BSF deputy inspector general, Rajesh Sharma told TOI that a BSF’s patrolling party spotted some suspicious movement near the international border at around 4.45 AM on Wednesday.
He said the BSF’s patrolling party challenged the intruder who continued to move towards Indian territory . in absence of any response, the BSF troops opened fire which hit the intruder.
On close inspection , it was observed that the intruder was a women. She was sent to hospital in Dera Baba Nanak but was referred to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital in Amritsar for treatment.
Intelligence sources informed that during brief preliminary inquiry, the women identified herself as Gulshan.
Sources said that Gulshan claimed that her husband had handed her over to Pak Rangers deployed across the international border who later pushed her in the Indian territory.
“An intrusion bid by a Pak women on the wee hours of day when there is almost nil light and thick layer of fog itself makes her entry suspicious and we are investigating it into different angles”said sources adding that her detailed interrogation would further reveal her intentions.
Sources informed that she could have used the rope to cross the border fence .
BSF also held a flag meeting with Pakistani Rangers to inform them and lodge protest about the attempted intrusion.
