A day after the AIADMK and the BJP announced their alliance and seat-sharing pact, the
Congress and the DMK today firmed up an alliance in Tamil Nadu. Congress will contest in 9 seats in
Tamil Nadu and 1 in Puducherry.
Addressing the press, DMK President MK Stalin said, out of total 40 seats, 9 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu & 1 seat in Puducherry have been given to Congress.
He also said that the constituencies to be given to Congress will be decided in due course of time after holding talks with alliance partners.
Apart from Congress, the DMK is also exploring possibilities with CPI and CPI (M), Vaiko’s MDMK, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK- a Dalit party) and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) to include them in the alliance.
Addressing a rally last week, BJP president Amit Shah, had said " DMK and Congress is an alliance of parties that follow the dynastic politics. It is an alliance of corruption. They have come together to create wealth for their families.
