Five die in separate road accidents

All victims were riding on two-wheelers

Five persons died in three separate accidents in the city on Tuesday. The victims include two college students who died after their two-wheeler hit a road divider.

According to Ramgopalpet police, the incident involving the students took place on Necklace Road. The victims, identified as Nikhil Pavan and Prashant, were riding a two-wheeler. Both were BiPC students of a private junior college. Ramgopalpet police inspector T Chanchala Babu said that the duo was riding the two-wheeler at a high speed. After crossing mobile barricades, they lost control of their vehicle and hit a divider. While Pavan died on the spot, Prashant was rushed to a private hospital in close proximity to the site of the accident. He later succumbed to his injuries.

“Both victims are between 17 and 18 years of age and study in Narayana Junior College. Both sustained serious head injuries and they were not wearing helmets. The rider did not have a licence as well,” the inspector said.

In a separate incident, two persons died near Railway Degree College along the Tarnaka-Mettuguda stretch after a lorry laden with gas cylinders hit a two-wheeler on which they were travelling. According to Lallaguda police, the two victims have been identified as Naveen (47) and Soma Raju (32). Naveen belonged to Warangal, and Soma Raju was from Jangaon. Both were masons. Police said that the accident occurred around 6.30 a.m. when the victims were driving opposite the college when the lorry hit their two-wheeler from behind. While Naveen died on the spot, Soma Raju succumbed to injuries at the Gandhi Hospital where he was rushed for treatment.

A third incident was reported at the Jubilee Hills police station in which a 20-year-old man Mohammed Mukhtar Hussain died after a TSRTC bus hit a two-wheeler on which he was travelling near the Krishna Kanth Park near Yousufguda.

According to police, the victim is Mohammed Mukhtar Hussain, was a student of Arabic and a resident of Venkatagiri in Jubilee Hills. Police said the accident took place due to confusion in driving between the driver of the bus, who has been identified as one Hari, and the victim. A case under Section 304 – A of the IPC has been booked against the bus driver.
