The PSL title race will go a long way, says Pitso

2019-02-20 11:11

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane feels the draw against Polokwane City on Tuesday night was a point gained rather two points lost in the Absa Premiership title race.

The Brazilians had the chance to go top of the standings over Bidvest Wits but failed to do so by picking up a 1-1 draw.

As it stands, Sundowns trail the Students by two points in second position however they do enjoy the advantage of having two matches in hand.

Mosimane told SuperSport TV after the game: "One of those hey. We're unhappy with not getting the win but you also have to be realistic. I cannot be unhappy with the performance of the boys.

"They tried so much, I mean so many balls saved on the line. I thought [George] Chigova was going to be Man of the Match. Ja, you have to accept it.

"We threw everything at them. They were more organised than against Maritzburg [United]. They really needed a point.

"You have made the substitutions no matter what, but what does the game say? Lebo [Lebohang Maboe] can get something, 'Emi' [Emiliano Tade] played well.

"Gaston [Sirino] is giving us the passes, set-pieces. Themba Zwane makes us play. You want to make the subs when you have to refresh the team. The substitution that killed us is the one of Wayne [Arendse] but in the last ten minutes there was not really much for Phakamani [Mahlambi] and Anthony Laffor to be honest.

"It's okay we must accept it, in as much as it's two points lost you can also say it's a point gained because this thing [title race] will go a long way."
