PANAJI: The Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) on Wednesday agreed to comply with the norms recommended by the state government which will allow benefits of the 7th pay commission to be extended for full-time GIDC employees. The decision, said GIDC chairman Glenn Ticlo, was taken at a board meeting.
“During the meeting the issue about the 7th pay commission was deliberated upon. There were some queries that the secretariat wanted us to comply with and the board has discussed this and agreed on the compliances,” said Ticlo. “We will send our compliance to the finance department.”
Ticlo rubbished claims that GIDC management was not in favour of granting the 7th pay commission benefits to the employees.
“IDC has accepted the proposal and it will now be sent to the government for implementation,” a GIDC official added.
During the meeting, it was also decided that infrastructure upgradation will be taken up at each industrial estate. The board approved the repair of existing roads at Madkai industrial estate along with repairs to existing infrastructure. “We will take up works in industrial estates one by one. Madkai estate needed substantial amount of infrastructure,” said a board member who was present.
The board also accorded administrative approval for the budget for the upgradation of industrial estates, a new administrative building and compounds for industrial estates. GIDC has also begun the process to prepare an expenditure budget for 2019-20 with a larger focus on the upgradation of industrial infrastructure, said GIDC officials.
