In a bizarre development, a BJP corporator in Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) in Maharashtra threw her bangles at the municipal commissioner during general body meeting of the corporation. The municipal commissioner has filed a police complaint against the corporator.
Rekha Chaudhary, the corporator in question, said she was angry that the corporation had not taken any action against illegal constructions in her ward.
The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon during the general body meeting of the corporation. During the meeting, Chaudhary asked Municipal Commissioner Govind Bodke about the progress on her complaint against illegal constructions in her municipal ward. When Bodke reportedly did not respond clearly, Chaudhary charged and threw her bangles at him and Town Planner Suresh Tengale.
Chaudhry alleged that Commissioner Bodke and Town Planner Suresh Tengale were purposefully delaying action against the illegal constructions for the past two years.
Municipal Commissioner Govind Bodke said that he has filed a police complaint and will write to the state government to seek Rekha Chaudhary's disqualification from the corporation.
Meanwhile, Vinita Rane, Mayor of KDMC said that action against the illegal constructions in Chaudhary's ward could not be initiated as they was a stay order from a court.
Other BJP corporators condemned Chaudhary's action and said that they do not support her over the incident.
