HYDERABAD: A Uppal resident who went to the United States of America (USA) nearly five years ago, was shot dead by an unknown masked person on Wednesday early morning as per Indian Standard Time.

Family members of K Govardhan Reddy,48, said that Reddy works in a Fuel filling station-cum-super market, located at Mobile Highway in Pensacola in Florida, as Manager.

On Tuesday night as per time in Florida, when the store was scheduled to be closed, one man walked up to Govardhan Reddy and opened fire using a gun and fled away.

``As per the information we got from the relatives of Govardhan ’s family in USA, the accused came with his face masked and killed him. What is the motive for the murder, is unknown to us,’’ Govardhan’s friend Ramesh, who resides in Hyderabad, said.

With the preliminary information to the family members, the accused did not take away the cash or any other valuables at the disposal of the victim. Govardhan, who went to USA as he got a better employment opportunity, has been living alone while his wife and two daughters- class 10 and class 7- are residing in Hyderabad.

Two hours after the murder, it was around 11 am on Wednesday, the family in Hyderabad came to know about the incident.

At the time of the incident, Govardhan was alone at the supermarket and the death was instant after suffering a bullet injury. It is learnt that the accused is at large.

``Till now none of the officials from USA or Indian authorities contacted us to share the details about the incident. We need help from the government in this crisis,’’ the family members said.
