Grand Canyon Visitors May Have Been Exposed to Radiation Since 2000

When visiting the grand canyon most tourists expect to take in some amazing scenery-????VO-canyon/radiation??But many visitors who travelled to Arizona’s most iconic landmark, may have taken in some radiation, as well.????VO-AZNEws screen grab??AZNews reports that three paint buckets filled with uranium were being stored in a museum building on the park’s premises.????VO-GC sign??They were removed in 2018, but according to an email sent out to Park Service employees by Park Safety manager Elston Stephenson-????VO-’’??The buckets had been stored there for nearly 20 years.????VO-GC??In his email he says quote: “If you were in the Museum Collections Building (2C) between the year 2000 and June 18, 2018, you were ‘exposed’ to uranium by OSHA’s definition.” ????VO-Arizona Department of Health Services??Saying that many tourists average up to 30 minutes in the affected area, with adults possibly having been exposed to as many as 400 times healthy limits-????VO-geiger??And children as much as 4,000 times.????VO-GC??Grand Canyon Park services, OSHA and the Arizona Department of Health Services have launched a joint investigation into the exposure.
