BENGALURU: The high court has stayed for six weeks a January 29, 2019 order passed by the Mandya deputy commissioner, directing Ashoka alias Ashok Pai, a rowdy-sheeter not to enter the district.
Justice BA Patil passed this order on a criminal revision petition filed by Ashok Pai.
Ashok Pai claimed that no material was produced by the Mandya SP to substantiate that he was involved in criminal activity and that only on presumption, the SP sent a letter to the DC, recommending action under section 55 of the Karnataka Police Act. He also said the DC passed the order without giving an opportunity to hear him.
