Three die as van rams autorickshaw in Tamil Nadu

THANJAVUR: Three people including two women died after a van rammed an autorickshaw they were travelling in near Thanjavur on Monday night.
The deceased have been identified as Fathima Beevi, 70, and her daughter-in-law Mehrunisa, 37, a resident of Kasim Puthupettai in Pudukkottai district, and auto driver Sathyaraj, 35.
Fathima and Mehrunisa were going to a hospital in Pattukkottai for a medical check-up. The accident happened near Pattukottai.
Sathyaraj died on the spot while the other two women succumbed to their injuries in Government Medical College Hospital in Thanjavur.
The Thiruchittrambalam police registered a case and arrested van driver Senthilkumar, 40, of Chinnathambur in Nagapattinam district.
