Two Surya Kiran aircraft that were part of the team practising for the Aero India show in Bengaluru collied mid-air near the Yelahanka air base. Both the aircraft fell to the ground while the pilots managed to eject. However, one of the pilots later succumbed to his injuries. The Surya Kiran acrobatic team has been one of the key attractions at air shows in India. The team has recently upgraded from Kiran aircraft to the Hawk. The Aero India show is slated to begin on February 20, 2019 in Bengaluru.
