VADODARA: A group of youngsters painted the Pakistani flag in Nizampura area late on Sunday night. The group painted the flag on the main road so that vehicles pass over it. The act was a mark of protest against the terror attack on the CRPF personnel in Pulwama last week.
The city police, however, learnt about it and covered the flag painting with sand early on Monday morning to avoid any trouble. Some residents also painted Pakistani flag in Kishanwadi area and locals were seen walking over it. Major roads in Anand city too witnessed Pakistani flags being drawn on the crossroads overnight.
The Pakistani flags were painted on the Laxmi talkies crossroads, 100-foot road among others which witness heavy vehicular movement throughout the day. Police sources said that the flags were painted overnight on the roads.
“It seems to be work of youngsters to insult the Pakistani national flag as almost all vehicles have to invariably cross the roads. Earlier, youth organisations used to burn effigies, raise anti-Pakistan slogans to register their protest,” said a police official.
