Tesla’s Romance Mode Will Make You Hot Under The Collar

In between the new ‘Dog Mode’ and ‘Sentry Mode’, Tesla found the time to develop a ‘Romance Mode’ late last year and introduced it to customer cars in December.

Romance Mode can be activated through a dedicated button in the infotainment system of the Tesla Model 3, Model S, and Model X. When launched, a video of a fireplace covers the screen. But that’s not all.

Complementing the fireplace is “sexy” music from the likes of Marvin Gaye and others. Romance Mode also activates the vehicle’s heating system to really get things steamy. The feature is only available when the vehicle is parked which, we guess, is a good thing for very obvious reasons.

Is Romance Mode a gimmick? Of course, but that’s not the point; besides, Tesla owners seem to enjoy with these kind of things.

The release of fun modes like this, as well as a range of hidden Easter Eggs, is just one of the ways Tesla likes to differentiate itself from rival companies while projecting a fun and relaxed attitude. The aforementioned Dog Mode and Sentry Mode were actually suggested by Tesla owners before the electric automaker went ahead with developing and introducing them.

An obvious advantage Tesla has over many of its competitors is the over-the-air technology it uses that enables fast and easy updates through the vehicle’s entertainment system, making the implementation of features like Romance Mode that much easier. It’s little wonder then why many other automakers are following suit and introducing over-the-air systems to their latest vehicles, such as BMW with the new-generation 8-Series, for example. And, since this seems to work, we expect the rest to follow.
