Share market update: Auto shares in the green; Motherson Sumi up 3%

NEW DELHI: Auto shares were trading in the green in Tuesday's morning session.

Shares of Motherson Sumi Systems (up 3.24 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (up 1.57 per cent), TVS Motor Company (up 1.16 per cent) and Bharat Forge (up 0.98 per cent) were the top gainers in the index.

Exide Industries (up 0.97 per cent), Apollo Tyres (up 0.72 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India (up 0.72 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp (up 0.65 per cent) too were trading higher.

The Nifty Auto index was trading 0.78 per cent up at 8130.45 around 09:56 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 44.75 points at 10,685.70 while the BSE Sensex was up 166.24 points at 35,664.68.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 38 were trading in the green, while 12 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Ashok Leyland, Ambuja Cements, ITC, Vodafone Idea, DLF, SBI, Bharti Infratel, Tata Motors, Bank of Baroda, ICICI Bank, SAIL, Infosys, ONGC and Zee Entertainment were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
