Sold house using forged papers for ₹2.5 cr

A 43-year-old woman and her mother have been arrested for allegedly selling their Greater Kailash house to five different men using forged documents, the police said on Monday.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Ghanshyam Bansal said the accused have been identified as Anuradha Kapoor, an MBA graduate from University of London, and her 65-year-old mother Molly Kapoor.

The mother-daughter duo cheated the victims in 2014-15 and have three cases of cheating registered against them in GK and Defense Colony police stations, they said.

The duo cheated the five men to the tune of ₹2.5 crore on the pretext of selling the property after forging “Agreement to Sale” document.

Proclaimed offender

They were also declared proclaimed offender by Saket court.

Mr. Bansal said they were arrested on February 16 after the police got a tip-off stating that the duo was staying at a hotel in New Friends Colony.

During interrogation, Anuradha allegedly told the police that they committed the crime to earn quick money and “to live a lavish lifestyle”.

Five-star hotels

The duo used to stay at five-star hotels in Delhi-NCR and also made trips to the UK, the US, Singapore, Australia and Sri Lanka, they added.

Mr. Bansal said Anuradha was arrested by Goa police in connection with the murder of a casino agent and later released on bail.

She is a commerce graduate from the University of Delhi after which she went to London to pursue an MBA.

She then came back to the city and worked as a freelance stock consultant, the police added.
