Guwahati: A woman college teacher has gone missing since Sunday morning after being suspended by the college authorities for a Facebook post on the terrorist attack on the CRPF convoy, police said here on Monday.

In her post, Papri Banerjee, who is a teacher at the city’s Icon Academy College, condemned the terrorist attack but also slammed the Indian Army for ‘atrocities’ on civilians in the Kashmir Valley and said that the recent attack was an expected move by the terrorists.

Following her post, Papri received rape and death threats from different Facebook users. On Saturday, her college suspended her for the comment. An FIR was also filed against her under Section 505 of the IPC and Section 66 of the IT Act.

“She came to the police station on Saturday as we summoned her regarding the FIR. She was supposed to come to the station on Monday but she did not. Then we sent a police team to her house for questioning.

But her father told us that she is missing since Sunday morning,” said B.C. Deka, officer in-charge of Chandmari Police Station. The police, however, said that they are yet to receive a missing complaint from her family members.

JOINT MUFTI, OMAR APPEAL: Meanwhile, reacting to reports of attacks on Kashmiris in some parts of the country, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, on Monday, released a joint appeal, saying it was the terrorists who had attacked the soldiers, not “Muslims” of the state.

The leaders called the reported violence as a “tool to shift the blame, and warned it could “indisputably disenchant” people of the state. Abdullah and Mufti are bitter political rivals but Pulwama has brought them on same page. “Intimidating Kashmiris is aimed at creating a wedge between different communities in India.

We should not allow the terror to divide us. By using such incidents to divide us, we fall into the trap of those behind the attack on CRPF soldiers; we are wittingly or unwittingly playing to the tunes of our enemies,” Abdullah and Mufti said in a joint statement.
