Former State intelligence chief and former Inspector-General of Police Gopal B. Hosur said here on Monday that India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been able to get the support of many countries on the Kashmir issue. Earlier, those countries were not supporting India’s stand. Now among those supporting India include some Muslim countries, he said.
Mr. Hosur was replying to a question by a student after a lecture on the ‘role of intelligence in good governance’ at the National Institute of Technology – Karnataka, Surathkal.
He said that the Prime Minister has been able to convince the leaders of other countries on the ground realities in Kashmir.
“Mr. Modi has been able to bring them on the board,” the former IGP said.
Mr. Hosur said that the Kashmir issue is extremely complex. Probably without going deep “into the history now we have to think over what we can do today and tomorrow” to solve the issue, he said. The student wanted to know whether a permanent and long-term solution would be possible to end insurgency issue in Kashmir.
The former IGP said that now Indians command good respect aboard. “You feel proud when you go aboard,” he said.
Earlier in his lecture, Mr. Hosur said that regional parties in the country are becoming stronger and they have begun playing an important role in the country. With this the Union is becoming weaker.
“As a young voter you should think how to make the nation stronger and how can we make the government free of coalitions. That is the challenge the country facing today.”
He asked the young technocrats to work towards preventing the cyber space threat on India’s vital government establishments including railways, air and nuclear ones.
