Waste plant is new GMC chief’s priority
Abhijay Jha | TNN | Feb 19, 2019, 07:07 ISTGHAZIABAD: Dinesh Chandra on Monday took charge as the new commissioner of Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC). Prior to this, Chandra held the post of chief development officer of Aligarh. He replaces CP Singh, who has been made the district magistrate of Kasnganj.
Spelling out his priorities , Chandra said he aims to find an amicable solution to the waste dumping issue.
“I have been apprised by my predecessor of the problem that GMC is facing in dumping civic waste after the NGT committee barred the corporation from dumping waste at Pratap Vihar landfill site. Till the time the Galand waste to energy plant is ready, we will have to dispose civic waste at designated landfill site and I hope that we will get the cooperation of residents” added Chandra. Chandra(53) a 1997 batch PCS officer was promoted to IAS in 2018 in his 19 years of service has held posts of additional commissioner, ADM(E), city magistrate in Saharanpur, Meerut, Prayagraj in UP’s 16 districts in different capacities. He took over the reins of CDO in Aligarh in May 2017 before being transferred to Ghaziabad.
