Another three-coach rake to join MahaMetro in 10 days

Nagpur: Even as trial runs for Nagpur MahaMetro are in full swing, the preparations for commercial launch will get a boost when another three-coach rake from China arrives in 10 days. Nagpur Metro has a three-coach rake at present.
The new three-coach rake, manufactured by China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation, is all set to join the Nagpur Metro soon, confirmed a senior official. The new addition will help in launching commercial operations, expected to start by this month end.
The China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation had bagged a Rs851 crore contract to supply 69 coaches for Nagpur Metro’s 38.215km Phase-I project. The Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Limited plans to run 23 trains across two corridors — 11 on the 19.658km north-south line between Automotive Square and Khapri and 12 on the 18.557km east-west line between Lokmanya Nagar and Prajapati Nagar.
On Tuesday, a team of Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) carried out testing of an empty rake between Khapri and Congress Nagar stations. The Metro did two trips on the downline of 11.5km from 11am.
Even as the date of launch of commercial operations is nearing, MahaMetro has imparted 45-day training to 260 new recruits, including 34 section engineers, 50 station controllers or train operators, 31 technicians etc at Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. These personnel have undergone seven-day firefighting training apart from soft skill development, communication skills, personality development and also technical.
Apart from continuous training by experienced trainers, after every 48 hours, an hour of meditation has been included in the evening schedule so as to increase the level of coordination among officers and staff with better focus on work. Training is also being imparted to housekeeping staff for any kind of emergency situation.
