Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was “too nervous to face Delhi voters alone” and had lent support to his Puducherry counterpart V.Narayanasamy in his “desperation” to ally with Congress in Delhi, the BJP Opposition alleged here on Monday.
Both AAP national convenor and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta alleged, had “landed in Puducherry” to extend support to Mr. Narayanasamy on “non-issues”.
“It is nothing but his notorious dramatic act for photoshoot and media attention. He must first respect the Supreme Court’s decision on the Delhi government. Delhi, like Puducherry, is a Union Territory,” Mr. Gupta argued.
“Mr. Kejriwal knew this before becoming the Chief Minister. He must explain what he has done for Delhi. Therefore, the talk of Statehood has no justification. Mr. Kejriwal is blaming Kiran Bedi for being undemocratic, whereas he is not honouring the Supreme Court’s recent orders. He is not fighting for democracy but for the very survival of his own party in Delhi,” Mr. Gupta alleged further.
The Rohini legislator argued that Mr. Kejriwal’s visit to Puducherry showed his “nervousness in facing voters of Delhi” and that he had “foreseen his defeat in Delhi”. He said, “Mr. Kejriwal is so desperate for a tie-up with Congress” since he had “forgotten and forsaken” the people of Delhi where he had proved to be a “disaster” during the last four years of his rule.
“He has never focused on Delhi’s problems, which remain as they were when he had come to power. The development in unauthorised colonies, slums, resettlement colonies, J.J. Clusters, villages and other areas occupied by weaker sections remain neglected. Health, education and the transport system lie in shambles,” he alleged.
“Mr. Kejriwal has no right to speak for democracy when he is following anarchist and undemocratic ways himself,” Mr. Gupta added.
