Demand immediate return of their hard earned money

Hundreds of small depositors duped by ponzi companies took to the streets here on Tuesday demanding immediate return of their money and stringent action against the accused.

In a memorandum submitted to Governor Ganeshi Lal, the depositors said though they were desperately seeking refund of their investments, several probes were yet to be completed.

“Investors have lost their patience. The State government is not giving a clear assurance as to when money deposited with ponzi companies will be returned,” said Jayanta Das, president of the Arthika Santhamanankadwara Khyatigrastha Militamancha, a body of duped investors.

“The government should take steps to identify depositors on a war-footing and the judicial inquiry commission should be provided with adequate manpower to complete the identification process,” Mr. Das said.

The investors demanded that they be refunded their money within a stipulated time frame. “To begin with the government must disburse the deposited amount among those who have been identified,” he said.

Meanwhile, State Finance Minister Sashibhushan Behera said allegations of the Naveen Patnaik government not being serious about the plight of depositors were baseless.
